Charles M. Spellmann, Ph.D., lives in central Arkansas today but was reared in central Texas. ‘We grew up poor after my father died, but didn’t know it until we were grown.’ Dr. Spellmann worked his way through college, then went into psychology. ‘I have 4 children, all now grown, who I reared alone for several years following the death of their mother.’ Dr. Spellmann's many years of experience helping parents learn to parent more effectively include his private practices of more than 23 years and work in child guidance clinics. Today Dr. Spellmann continues a private psychology practice and entertains himself and his friends at Palaver Place, his bed and breakfast inn in central Arkansas. Besides writing, he enjoys painting, recently showing his work, and building. ‘I have built my own home from recycled lumber,’ he brags. He also keeps foster children shaping them with the skills of a master craftsman.
